Photo of me covered in fake blood, sweat, and tears hung above vials filled with artificial blood, sweat, and tears. This work considers how men work hard, so they sweat, so they are considered masculine but sweat on women is often seen as unfeminine. The term “blood, sweat, and tears” was originally used in the context of men fighting hard at war and now refers to achieving something through intense labor. Everything in this piece was staged and required very little effort.
